Abstract

Experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station Gangavathi during 2012 and 2013 to study the effect of penoxsulam 24% SC against weeds in direct seeded rice under puddle conditions. The two year mean data revealed that application of penoxsulam 24%SC at  25 g.a.i/ha at two to four leaf stage of weeds (15-20 DAS) significantly reduced the weed dry matter of all categories of weeds than pyrazosulfuron ethyl check herbicide and recorded  better yield parameters like more number of panicles per meter square and higher panicle weight. The treatment recorded a mean grain yield of 49.71q/ha which was 9.4% higher than the check herbicide pyrazosufuron ethyl and proved completely safe for Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) rice under puddle conditions.
