Abstract
A field experiment was conducted at University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad during kharif and rabi season of 2013-14 and 14-15 to study the influence of pesticides (P0 – Untreated control, P1 – Thiodicarb 75 WP @ 1 g/l, P2 – Spinosad 45 SC @ 0.1 ml/l, P3 - Profenophos 50 EC @ 2 ml/l, P4 - Chlorantraniliprole 20 SC @ 0.5 ml/l) on different varieties of brinjal (V1 - Malapur Local, V2 – MAHY- Kalpataru,V3 – Manjula, V4 – Manjari) in improving yield by enhancing growth parameter at different stages of growth. The results revealed that, among all the four varieties, Manjari variety recorded with a maximum plant height, leaf area and dry matter . The pesticide treatments influenced growth parameter of brinjal and recorded a high leaf area, total dry matter, plant height, NAR, CGR, AGR, LAI and SLW in profenophos (P3) followed by chlorantriniliprole (P4), spinosad (P3) and thiodicarb (P1) respectively compared to their non-sprayed control. The data recorded on all the morphological, growth and yield parameter at 70, 80, 90, 115 and 125 DAT. All the above parameters differed significantly among pesticide treatments, varieties and their interaction at 70, 80 and 90 DAT. The total fruit yield recorded highest in Manjari variety and its interaction with profenophos (P3) pesticides compared to other varieties and their interactions at recommended dose fixed by agriculture experts.
