Abstract

Studies on safety of insecticides to Chrysoperla zastrowi sillemi larvae and adults of Trichogramma chilonis were undertaken in Department of Agricultural Entomology, UAS, Dharwad. The results revealed that field recommended concentrations of chlorpyriphos 48%EC @ 2.5 ml/l and cypermethrin 25EC @ 0.5 ml/l were found highly toxic resulting in cent per cent mortality of Chrysoperla. The application of azadirachtin 2.5% @ 3.0 ml/l and emamectin benzoate 5SG @ 0.2 g/l proved to be comparatively safe with 78.83 per cent mortality of 2nd instar Chrysoperla larvae. While, chlorpyriphos 48%EC 2.5 ml/l, monocrotophos 36%SL @ 1.0 ml/l and spinosad 45SC @ 0.1 ml/l were found to be the most harmful insecticides to adults of Trichogramma with 96.67, 95.83  and 95.83 per cent mortality, respectively. Emamectin benzoate 5SG @ 0.2 g/l and lufenuron 5%EC @ 0.1 ml/l proved relatively safe to Trichogramma with 80.83 and 81.67 per cent mortality, respectively compared to other insecticides.
