Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2013 atMain Agricultural Research Station, College of Agriculture, UAS,Dharwad to study the effect of mode of fertilization on growth andyield of cowpea genotypes. Results indicated that genotype DC-15recorded significantly higher plant height (83.76 cm), number ofbranches plant-1 (10.89), LAI (4.59). Dry matter production plant-1(28.37 g) number of pods per plant (13.87), number of seeds perpod (11.51), test weight (12.37 g), seed yield (1548 kg ha-1), grossreturns (` 49,329 ha-1) and net returns ` 31,735 ha-1). Results furtherindicated that application of 75% RDF through soil along withthree sprays of 2% DAP foliar spray at 30, 45 and 60 days aftersowing recorded significantly higher number of pods per plant(15.39), number of seeds per pod (12.09), test weight (12.82 g), seedyield (1630 kg ha-1), gross returns (` 51,843 ha-1) and net returns(` 32,745 ha-1) over water sprayed control.
