National rural health mission (NRHM) : Back bone to rural mother

Abstract


Every minute of life every day, somewhere in the world and most often in developing countries, a women diesfrom complication during pregnancy or child birth. Health standards in India considerably since independence. Governmenthas made deeper inroad into rural areas with focused schemes like the National rural health mission and have even startedscheme for health insurance for the poor population. the present study was conducted in Dharwad Block of Karnatakastate. Cent per cent of the village women preferred hospital delivery as it is safe and opined that tips should not be givento the Auxiliary Nurse Mid wife in the Primary Health Centre to get allowance of Janani Suraksha Yojana (Acharya, D.2004). Ninety one point three three per cent respondents agreed to the statement that health programmes motivate familymembers for safe hospital delivery. Mothers had appreciable knowledge on safety in the Government hospital, poliovaccine and family planning programme. Cent per cent rural mothers have adopted immunization schedule for children.
