Impact of consumer welfare programme and standard marks among rural high school students

Abstract


The present study aimed to determine the level of awareness of consumer welfare programme and Standard markamong rural high school students. A total sample size was 150 students from five high schools located in the villages ofDharwad taluka. The results showed that the students of Hebballi village had higher knowledge regarding the consumerwelfare programmes. Majority of the boys from Dharwad had the knowledge mean value of 8.33 and girls having meanvalue of 5.66 followed by Tadakod, Managundi, Amminabhavi and Nigadi village students.The High School students ofTadakod were found to have more knowledge regarding different standard marks namely Hallmark, Agmark, ISI/BIS, etcwith girls having mean value of 8.14 and boys having a mean value of 7.14 next to Managundi ,Amminabhavi, Nigadi andHebballi village. Further, the result of educational intervention methods among the students showed that, the folder andlecture cum demonstration were found to be effective to impart the knowledge among the high school students, howeverlecture cum demonstration was found to be more significant than the folder developed for imparting the knowledgeregarding selected aspects of consumerism.
