Abstract

The field experiment was conducted at University of Agricultural Sciences Dharwad, during kharif 2003 to study the influence of mother plant nutrition on biochemical and seed quality attributes in okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L) Moench). Among the treatments, RDF + MgSO4 @ 50 kg per ha recorded significantly higher chlorophyll content in both leaf and fruit tissues, and NRA. The seed quality parameters like germination per cent, root length, shoot length and vigour index were also maximum in treatment with RDF + MgSO4 @ 50 kg per ha followed by RDF + vermicompost @ 2 t per ha and RDF + magnesite @ 250 kg per ha. Among the varieties, the Arka Anamica performed better compared to Sada Bahar in all biochemical and seed quality attributes. However, the interaction effects between  treatment and variety was found non significant.
