Abstract
The effects of five carbon sucrose and dextrose at 1, 2, 3 and 4 per cent and four nitrogen sources viz., KNO3, NaNO3, (NH4)2 SO4, NH4NO3 at 0.1, 0.15, 0.2 and 0.25 per cent on the mycelial biomass of fungi, Metarhizium anisopliae (Ma2) , were evaluated independently in the basic Czapek Dox medium. The results revealed that starch @ 40g/L was the best carbon source which recorded maximum dry biomass of the fungus followed by sucrose (5.51 g/250 ml) and fructose (4.83 g/250 ml). Among nitrogen sources, KNO3 (5.76 g/250 ml) was found to be best source followed by NH4NO3 (5.32 g/250 ml) at 0.2 per cent for multiplication of Metarhizium anisopliae.
