Abstract

Application of micronutrients on sugarcane crop in India is not awidespread practice. Nevertheless, the crop advance to lower fertilitysoils and introduction of varieties with greater yield potential willchange the nutrient management. In this context, an experiment wasconducted with zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) application at five differentlocations with aim to evaluate the effect of zinc sulfate fertilizationon tillering, yield and quality of sugarcane. Zinc sulphate (ZnSO4)@ 25 kg ha-1 was applied at the time of planting along withrecommended dose of N, P2O5 and K2O fertilizer(250 kg, 000 kg and00 kg). Mean analysis of data of all locations showed significanteffects of Zn application on tillering, stalk yield and total sugar yield. The application of 25 kg ha-1 of ZnSO4 resulted in higher number oftillers (3500 tiller ha-1), stalks(8.6 t ha-1) and sugar(1.1 t ha-1) over noapplication
