Abstract
This study was aimed at evaluating antibacterial potential of theProsopis juliflora leaf extract in attempt to identify potential naturalsources for synthesis of new drug . The Prosopis juliflora leaf extractsobtained by supercritical fluid extraction were assessed for theirantibacterial property against Escherichia coli, Salmonella entericaand Staphylococcus aureus using disc diffusion method and showedan inhibitory zone diameter of 13.90, 14.47 and 14.53 mm, respectivelywhich indicates that supercritical fluid extract shows best result havingzone of inhibition greater than that of the soxhlet extraction process(5.10, 5.20 and 5.10 mm). It can be concluded that the Prosopisjuliflora could be a potential source for antibacterial agents in medicalapplications.
