Abstract
The impact of diet modification and educational interventions on management of diabetes mellitus was studied for a period of six months. About 26 type-2 diabetics were given interventions in the form of diet modification (I), individual, group, family and spouse education and counseling (II) and combination of I & II (III), with six to seven subjects in each group for a period of six months. Control group was not given any interventions (IV). The interventions of diet and education were effective in terms of glycemic control, reduction in lipids and increase in HDL-C levels at the end of six months, thus reducing the cardio vascular disease risk.
