Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during summer 2017 to study the effect of weed management practices insesame during summer under irrigation at the Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences,Dharwad, Karnataka. The treatments consisting of pre emergence herbicides such as pendimethalin 38.7 % CS andpendimethalin 30 % EC with one hand weeding at 30 days after sowing (DAS), pendimethalin 38.7 % CS alone. Postemergence herbicides such as imazethapyr 10 % SL and chlorimuron 25 % EC, weed free and weedy check with irrigationscheduling at 0.8 IW/CPE ratio and control. Results revealed that, pre emergence application of pendimethalin @ 38.7 % CS+ HW at 30 DAS was found most effective weed management practice in summer under irrigation and also recordedsignificantly lower total dry matter of weeds m-2 (4.97 g) and higher weed control efficiency (65.10 %) which wassignificantly superior over rest of the treatments. The same treatment recorded higher growth, yield attributes and economicsof sesame as compared to other treatments.
