Abstract

A study was undertaken to map the nutrient status of Hebbalagere micro-watershed (4D4C4M2d) in Channagiritaluk, Davanagere district of Karnataka using GIS technique. One hundred surface soil samples (0 - 15cm) of Hebbalageremicro-watershed were collected and assessed for the soil chemical properties and available NPK status. The soils under thestudy were slightly acidic to strongly alkaline in soil reaction with nonsaline in nature and soil organic carbon status was lowto high. The available nitrogen in micro-watershed showed 668 ha (59.1%) area with medium status and 349 ha (30.8%) areaunder low status. The available phosphorous status was medium in 790 ha (69.8%) area and 227 ha (20.1%) under highstatus. The 778 ha (68.8%) area showed high available potassium status and 239 ha (21.1%) was medium. The studyhighlights the importance of mapping the soil parameters which gives the spatial extent which have applicability for soilmanagement.
