Abstract

A field experiment was conducted on boron deficient soil to evaluate the effect of boron levels on growth and yieldin rice. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with seven treatments and replicated thrice.Application of recommended NPK+ FYM + 8 kg Borax per ha significantly increased the effective panicles per hill (18.37),panicle length (23.27 cm), test weight (26.10 g), number of filled grains per hill (147.00), total grains per hill (153.33), grainyield (5634.00 kg ha-1) and straw yield (6349 kg ha-1) of rice. The lowest number of unfilled grains per hill (6.33) and per centchaffiness (4.13) was also observed in the treatment that received recommended dose of NPK + 8 kg borax per ha followedby treatment that received 4 kg borax per ha. The lowest number of filled grains per hill (101.00), total grains per hill(120.07) and higher number of unfilled grains per hill (19.07) and per cent chaffiness (15.89) was recorded in the treatmentthat received recommended dose of fertilizer + 20 kg borax per ha followed by treatment that received 16 kg borax per ha.
