Abstract

The present study was carried out for development and identificationof early ridge gourd hybrids. Twenty F1crosses were produced bycrossing five diverse ridge gourd genotypes through full diallel fashion. All the F1 crosses and parents evaluated in Randomized Completeblock design with three replication during summer 2018. Analysis ofvariance showed significant differences for growth and earliness whichindicates enormous genetic variability present in the ridge gourdgenotypes used for the study. The magnitude of heterosis was foundin desirable direction in cross Shittahalli local × TNAU CO-1 for vinelength (8.18%), Krishna-51× Arka Sujat (-6.45%) showed decreasedinternodal length, days to first female flowering was early in the crossPusa Nasdar × Krishna-51(-1.27%) and days to 50 per cent floweringearly in cross Krishna-51 × TNAU CO-1 (-1.30%) and Krishna-51 ×Arka Sujat (-1.30%).
