Abstract

Field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2017 atFarmer’s field of Kota hobli, Udupi taluk, Karnataka, India, to findout the best herbicide and herbicides combination in transplanted ricewith special reference to yellow green algae under coastal Karnataka.Among herbicides combination, pre-emergent herbicide Pendimethalin38.7 CS at 750 g a.i. ha-1 at 3 days after transplanting (DAT) followedby post-emergent herbicide of Penoxsulam 24 CS at 22.5 g a.i. ha-1 at30 DAT recorded lower weed dry matter (13.74 g) with higher weedcontrol efficiency (84.44 %) of yellow green algae and recordedsignificantly higher number of tillers per hill (24.19), plant height(96.40 cm), grain yield (5548 kg/ha) and straw yield (6331 kg/ha)followed by application of pre-emergent herbicide Pendimethalin 38.7CS at 750 g a.i. ha-1 at 3 DAT followed by post emergent herbicidePenoxsulam 24 CS at 22.5 g a.i. ha-1 at 30 DAT
