Survey for the intensity of leaf spot disease of cinnamon caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (Penz.) Penz. and Sacc. in southern hilly zone of Karnataka

Abstract


A roving survey was conducted during kharif 2017 to assess theintensity of leaf spot disease of cinnamon caused by Colletotrichumgloeosporioides (Penz.) Penz. and Sacc. in southern hilly zone ofKarnataka which includes Shivamogga, Chikmagalur and Kodagudistricts. The disease was noticed in all the surveyed areas. The severityof disease ranged from 5.20 to 35.60 per cent. The highest per centdisease index was recorded in Chikmagalur district (25.97%), followedby Kodagu district (24.14%) and least was noticed in Shivamoggadistrict (10.96%). Hence, Chikmagalur district was identified as hotspot for cinnamon leaf spot disease.
