Knowledge level of fruit and vegetable growers on institutional market interventions

Abstract


The study aimed at assessing the knowledge level of farmers aboutinstitutional market interventions like public and private. The studywas conducted by selecting 80 farmers, 40 farmers representing publicmarket intervention and 40 farmers representing privateat Davangeredistrict. The data was collected through pre tested interview schedule.The knowledge level of farmers in public market intervention wascent percent in case of awareness, grading, packing, acceptanceirrespective of quality and quantity, market intelligence and cooperationand services of staff. Whereas in case of private marketintervention, complete knowledge of farmers was on awareness,grading, mechanical grading, existence of local collection centers andmarketing outlets, co-operation and services of staff and monitoringof the farming activities.
