Evaluation of sweet potato [Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.] genotypes for quality parameters

Abstract


An experiment was conducted to study the performance of 30genotypes of sweet potato for quality characters under hill zone ofKarnataka. The present investigation revealed that genotype BSP-23recorded significantly maximum reducing sugar (1.34%), non-reducingsugar (1.83%), total sugar (3.17%) starch (1.22%), â-carotene (0.92mg/100 g) and crude protein (11.37%) while BSP-30 recordedminimum reducing sugar (0.31%), non-reducing sugar (0.45%), totalsugar (0.75%), and starch (0.27%) content. Genotype BSP-27recorded minimum beta-carotene (0.11 mg/100 g) and BSP-14 recordedlowest crude protein content (3.06%).
