Abstract

Increase of environmental pollution due to use of pesticides isalarming. One of the alternatives is to reduce the pesticide use anduse of botanicals as biocontrol agents. The present investigationwas undertaken to test antifungal activity of aqueous leaf extract ofEmbelia ribes against four different fungal species by employingvarious concentrations viz.,5,10,15 per cent. Aqueous leaf extractof E.ribes at 15 per cent concentration showed highest antifungalactivity and high inhibition percentage were observed in Alternariasolani (86.59 %) and Fusarium oxysporum (43.26 %) while leastwas seen in Sclerotium rolfsii (13.29%). The present study clearlydemonstrated the antifungal activity of E. ribes
