Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif 2017 at Agronomyfield unit, of the College of Agriculture Shivamogga, Karnataka stateto study the effect of humic substances on yield and economics ofsoybean (Glycine max L. Merrill.). The variety used was JS-335.Application of vermicompost on farm yard manure (FYM) ‘N’equivalent basis was found superior by recording significantly highergrain yield (1957 kg ha-1) over rest of the treatments. Similarly, benefitcost ratio (1.55) recorded by vermicompost was also higher. The nextbest treatment was soil application of humic acid @ 5 kg ha-1 atsowing + foliar spray of humic acid extracted from vermicompost(0.2%) at 40 days after sowing (T8). The lowest seed yield (1342 kgha-1) and benefit cost ratio (1.20) were recorded with control(Recommended package of practice).
