Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to identify the broad spectrum herbicides in sunflower during kharif 2016 atthe Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur. The result revealed that there was asignificant difference in sunflower growth, weed parameters and yield contributing characters with respect to pre and postemergent herbicides. Among the herbicide treatments application of Pendimethalin @ 0.75 kg a.i. ha-1 (Pre) followed byPropaquizafop @ 37.5 g a.i. ha-1 (Post) at 20-25 days after sowing (DAS) recorded significantly higher yield componentsviz., capitulum diameter (16.93 cm), seed yield (1924 kg ha-1) and harvest index (0.40) as compared to all other herbicidetreatments and it was on par with Pendimethalin @ 0.75 kg a.i. ha-1 (Pre) followed by One inter-cultivation at 30 DAS.
