Abstract

The present study was conducted in Hyderabad-Karnataka region of Karnataka state and Raichur district waspurposively selected for researcher’s convince to assess knowledge level about direct seeded rice by the farmers. The resultsindicated that, 23.33 per cent participant farmers and 56.67 per cent of non-participant farmers belonged to low knowledgelevel category, while 43.33 per cent of participant farmers and 38.33 per cent of non-participant farmers belonged tomedium knowledge category. However, 33.33 per cent of participant farmers and 5.00 per cent non-participant farmersbelonged to high knowledge category. Knowledge level between participant and non-participant was highly significant. Thepractice wise results indicated that cent per cent of the participant farmers had full knowledge about cultivar suited to theirarea, followed by seed treatment (98.33 %), seed rate per ha (93.33 %) and time for FYM application. Farmers had lessknowledge possession regarding important diseases and their management measures (3.33 %) followed by quantity of FYMper ha (10.00 %) and green manuring at 20 per cent for participant farmers.
