Meeting information needs of farmers through Farmers Call Centre ANGRAU

Abstract


Calls received by Farmers Call Centre, ANGRAU during the year2018 were analyzed for district wise, month wise, gender wise, seasonwise, crop wise and component wise call details. Maximum numberof calls were received from Guntur district (1083) followed by Krishna(404), Kurnool (345), Prakasam (330), other states (249), Anantapur(191),Y.S.R.Kadapa (183),Chittore (179) East Godavari (134),Srikakulam (114), West Godavari (108), SPSR Nellore (105),Visakapatnam (103) and Viayanagaram (83). More number of callswere received during the month of February (492) (13.64%), followedby March (395) (10.93 %), July (387) (10.72%), October (345) (9.56%), August (324) (8.97 %), January (313) (8.67 %), June (307) (8.50%), September (256) (7.09 %), November (251) (6.95 %), April (204)(5.64 %), and December (174) (4.82 %), the least number of callswere made during the month of May (96) (4.08%). Majority of callswere received from the male farmers (94.07 %) and during rabi season(43.62 %). Cereals (24.42 %), other crops (20.99 %), vegetables(16.26 %), pulses (12.59 %), fruits (9.65%), commercial crops (8.48%) and oil seeds (6.1 %) were the major crop categories on whichqueries were received from the farmers. Plant protection (48.07 %),crop production (34.67 %), weather (4.49 %), loan, finance andsubsidies (3.69 %) and implements and farm machinery (2.78 %)aspects were the areas on which fgarmers clarified their doubts.
