Abstract
Survey was conducted during 2017-18 to collect the apparently healthysunflower plant samples which were present in and around Dharwadcampus. T otally 76 fungal endophytes (30 from leaf, 22 from stem,24 from root) were isolated from different parts of apparently healthysunflower plant. Among the different parts and genotypes used forisolation, more number of fungal endophytes were obtained from leaftissue and DSH-1, respectively and these endophytes were evaluatedagainst soil borne fungal pathogen Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. Among22 leaf endophytes tested, the maximum inhibition was recorded inLE-7 (37.65 %). Among 19 stem endophytes tested, the maximuminhibition was recorded in SE-11b (57.65 %) followed by SE-11a(45.10 %) and SE-18 (36.08 %). Among the 14 root endophytesevaluated, RE-12 (68.24 %) showed maximum inhibition followed byRE-13 (64.31 %) and RE-5 (37.65 %).Key words: Fungal endophytes, In vitro, Sclerotium rolfsii, Sunflowe
