SOMASHEKHAR NAGAPPA METI, V. R. KULKARNI

Abstract

Duringkharif2018, a total of 55 varieties / hybrids were screened against  Alternaria blight, grey mildew and rustof cotton.  These 55 varieties/ hybrids consisted of 24 nonBt  and  31  Bt genotypes.  Among 24 nonBtgenotypes, fourGossypium arboreum (DAS-385, DLSA-17, DWDa-1801, DWDa-1802) and three G . herbaceum (DDhc-11, DDhc-1801,DDhc-1802) genotypes showed moderately resistant reaction to Alternaria blight, grey mildew and rust. In addition tothese, oneG. hirsutum (ARBC-1551), oneG . barbadense(ARBB-1502 ) and four UAS Dharwad released and promisinggenotypes (ARBH-813, DHH-11, DHH-263 and DHH-1062) showed moderately resistant reaction to grey mildew.Among 31 Btgenotypes screened against Alternaria blight, two Btgenotypes (Bahubali and Uttam) showed moderatelyresistant reaction, all the genotypes (Airavata,  Ajeet 5,  Ajeet 155, Ajeet 199,  ARBH 813,  Arjun 21, A TM, Bhakti, Brahma,Bindas, Bunny, Champion, Chiranjeevi, Dr. Brent, First class, Gajab plus, Jadu, MRC-7383, President gold, Puli, RasiNeo, Sabari, Soumya, Y uva, Bahubali, Uttam, Diamond, GM-12, RCHB-708XL, Mahyco-7201 and Shalimar) showedmoderately resistant reaction to grey mildew and only one genotype (RCHB-708XL) showed moderately resistant reactionto rust.Key words:  Alternaria blight, Cotton genotypes, Grey mildew, Rust, Screening
