Screening of advanced lines against soybean rust caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi Syed.

Abstract


The field experiment was conducted during 2015-16 at R & D centre,Ugar Sugar Works Ltd, Ugarkhurd, Belgaum District to screen 16advanced lines against soybean rust caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi.Three parameters were taken into account for screening the linesnamely disease severity, lesion colour and count for the number oflesions on mid veins and both sides of mid vein of infected leaves .The results indicated that the advanced lines DSb 21, DSb 23-2,DSb 28-3, DSb 2010-1, DSb 2010-4, DSb 34, EC241780, EC 241778recorded disease grade of 1 indicating their reaction as highly resistant.The lines DSb 30-2, 2010-3 and DSb 21 × JS 7105 recorded diseasegrade of 3 indicating moderately resistant reaction. The lines DSb 32,DSb 31-5 and DSb 23-2 x JS 7105 recorded disease score of 5 andDSb 33 recorded 7, indicating moderately susceptible and susceptiblereaction respectively. The line JS 335 recorded disease score of 9indicating highly susceptible reaction.
